On this 4th Sunday of Lent, the Church proclaims the Gospel account of the man born blind whose eyes are opened by Jesus. This man had no human support: the Apostles assumed his blindness had been due to sin, the Pharisees mock him in an attempt to trip up Jesus, even his parents refuse to defend him saying Hes old enough to speak for himself. Only Jesus showed him love after his eyes were opened... inviting him to faith and eternal life. As Jesus opens the eyes of our hearts and calls us to change, conversion, and a closer walk with him, we too may face misunderstanding, rejection, and mistrust from others-- but who cares? If we walk with Christ we have the gift of life and the peace that no one on earth can give.
