On this 9th anniversary of Katrina, when our entire town of St. Bernard was wiped out but 5 houses, our beloved homeland and New Orleans devastated. Our friends and family drowned, the suicides that came after, those who died of broken hearts. Many forced to live elsewhere, scattered, that awful word displaced. We look at Ferguson and in contrast, black and white, latino and asian, and all in between we pulled together, discovered strength, faith in each other, we joined as one cohesive region, arms and hands outstretched; we were one one humankind. It happened, as if there were never a day of divisiveness. People shared their water, their shade, their homes, their food, their labor. In fluid syncronicity we helped each other, the strong helped the weak, the young helped the old, neighbor helping neighbor and strangers helping strangers, there was one human cry and the people rose. Friends, please take the time to reflect, to remember how it used to be, to remember our friends and loved ones and how it once was. Rejoice in that we have found many friends and family and while there will always be that pain, that sadness behind our eyes, we do have each other. Pass on our traditions and memories to your children and grandchildren and the love of this place we call home. Prayers, positive thoughts, wishes and dreams for all of you. Cher, JB and friends.
