On this Day in Weather History... In 1958, a violent F4 tornado struck El Dorado. Possessing a track 8 miles long and around 300 yards wide, the twister roared through the southwest part of town. The tornado devastated a new subdivision where around 200 homes were destroyed in a 45 block area. The twister killed 15 and injured 50. One woman was plucked through a window and carried around 60 feet and survived. She landed alongside a phonograph record entitled "Stormy Weather".
