On this Memorial Day, we would like to remember Arthur William LaMorte. He was killed by hostile enemy fire near Da Nang in South Vietnam. A 1966 graduate of Perry Hall High School, he enlisted in the Marines and intended to make the Marines his career. He was assigned to a civil action team living in a Vietnamese village and helping the people there. He had been wounded in action in November 1967 and had just returned to his unit on January 7th. He had volunteered for another tour in Vietnam as soon as his current tour would have been completed. One of his goals in the Corps was to return to Parris Island as a Drill Instructor at some point. In civilian life he was also a member of the Cowenton Volunteer Fire Company, now White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company. He is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall panel 38E line 031. thewall-usa/info.asp?recid=29366 findagrave/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=60161473
