On this Remembrance Day, I would like to take a moment to recognize and honour the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who made the greatest of sacrifices for their country as well as those currently serving in other parts of the world. Please take a moment today to remember those who fought for our freedom. In Oakville, there are two ceremonies today: Downtown Oakville Remembrance Day Services hosted by Oakville Legion Branch 114 at St. Georges Square beginning at 10:30am. The ceremony at Georges Square begins at 11am and includes two minutes of silence and a wreath laying ceremony. After the ceremony, veterans march back to Church and Navy streets. Memorial Park in the Oak Park community of River Oaks will have a service with town Councillor Jeff Knoll starting at 10:40am. The park is dedicated to service men and women who lost their lives in WWI, WWII, and the Korean War from Trafalgar Township. The Trafalgar Memorial is located at the corner of Central Park Drive and Oak Park Boulevard. Wherever you are today, please pause for moment to reflect on those who have given their lives and those who continue to carry the torch.
