On this Veterans Day, I want to share something an Australian visitor said to me yesterday as we were waiting for a show to begin at Seaworld. With every Orca show, there is a moment where the trainers ask current and retired military to stand up and be acknowledged. They did....and duly received their very justified applause. She said... One thing Ive noticed about America is your deep respect and admiration for those who serve in your military. Its everywhere. Small things and large things but it is SO there. It is humbling to me, this side of America because we know your military doesnt just go fight wars, they rescue people and aid those who need it the most, especially during tsunamis and quakes. She works with veterans back home and knows their struggles. It was lovely to hear she thought well of those who commit their lives to being a part of our countrys protectors. And really, its true. Those who wear the uniform...and their spouses... give up so much of their lives not just to protect ours but to serve their fellow man, regardless of nation or creed. So thank you. Such little words we cant pack enough meaning into but they are heartfelt and strong.
