On this date in Country Legends History... 1969 - Glen Campbell goes to #1 on the Billboard country singles chart with the Jimmy Webb song Galveston. 1970 - Johnny Cash plays the White House with June Carter and The Statler Brothers. Cash declines president Nixons request to do Merle Haggards Okie From Muskogee but does perform Folsom Prison Blues, Peace In The Valley and What Is Truth. 1976 - Eddie Rabbitts single Drinkin My Baby (Off My Mind) went number one on the country chart. 1978 - Columbia releases Willie Nelsons Stardust album. 1980 - Crystal Gayle ascends to the top of the Billboard country chart with Its Like We Never Said Goodbye. 1981 - Alabama takes Old Flame to #1 on the Billboard country chart. 1988 - MCA releases Reba McEntires Reba album and Strait Country, George Straits debut album, goes gold seven years after its release. 1992 - Aaron Tippin picks up his first #1 single in Billboard: There Aint Nothin Wrong With The Radio. 1996 - Diamond Rios video for Its All In Your Head, featuring Martin Sheen, debuts on CMT and in 1998 the band joins the cast of the Grand Ole Opry, following an introduction by Little Jimmy Dickens. The first song they perform as members: Meet In The Middle. 2001 - Brooks & Dunns album, Steers & Stripes, was released. 2004 - The Judds make their Grand Ole Opry debut, performing Flies On The Butter (You Cant Go Home Again) and Grandpa (Tell Me Bout The Good Old Days).
