On this day, July 24, 1969, Americans Michael Collins, Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin concluded their lunar mission and landed safely on Earth. Apollo 11 was the first time humans walk the lunar surface. Days earlier, Neil Armstrong – the first man to walk on the moon – spoke these famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” This moment in time reminded all of us of what great feats a united nation can achieve. John F Kennedy’s vision of putting a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth was realized. The President’s clear objective rallied a nation and showed the world what America is truly capable of doing. The Apollo 11 mission was a great moment in our country’s history. It’s time for another great moment. It is time to rebuild America. ###
