On this day, July 30, 1963, at approximately 0500 hours. That is before the crack of Dawn. My beautiful and pregnant wife, shook me and said those three words that cause a man to panic. “It is time”. As I jumped out of bed, put the clothes, I had worn the day before on. Called my Mother-in-law, who lived across the street. Grabbed the overnight bag, carried it to the car. My Mother –in-law was there to stay with Robert. We arrived at Columbia Hospital around 0530 hours. By 0545 hours she was in the labor Room and being checked by the on call Doctor, who had just been awakened. Neither one of us had even combed our hair. He said she would be awhile. We went down stairs together and had a cup of coffee. On the way back up on the elevator A Nurse asked me, Was that your little Red Headed Girl just born, I replied, I don’t think so! When I exited the elevator another nurse said, come see your daughter. There she was, almost bald but the hair was red. There was a bright Red Strawberry colored Hemangioma on her head. Skin as pink as a rose petal, screaming her lungs out. That was my first glimpse of Victoria Lee, Brazell. You have to know, my mother, myself, and one sister was very red headed when young. I went to the room where Dale was, kissed her, and thanked her for the little girl, she smiled, and I ask real loud, “Where did she get that red hair” That’s when she hit me. Today is the Birthday of Victoria Lee Brazell Stewart, She would be Fifty One Years old. It seems like only yesterday! Happy Birthday Daddy’s Little Girl. I Love you and I miss you every day.
