On this day in 1895, Chiropractic was founded by Daniel David (D.D) Palmer, he had his first major breakthrough in applying his theories of natural healing. The janitor of the building where he worked, Harvey Lillard, while not suffering from neck pain, back pain, or even headaches, had been deaf for 17 years! Palmer was convinced that Lillard’s hearing loss was due to a blockage of the spinal nerves which control the inner ear. It was his opinion that this nerve blockage was caused by a misaligned vertebrae irritating the spinal nerves. It was then that D.D Palmer performed the first Chiropractic adjustment on Harvey Lillard, and successfully restored his hearing! Being a chiropractor is the one the best choices I have ever made. Thank you to my fellow colleagues, and our patients to make chiropractic what it is today.
