On this day in 1986, the Three Hundred Thirty Five Year War, a bloodless war between the Netherlands and the Islands of Scilly, finally ended with a peace treaty. I know what youre thinking: It didnt feel like a day longer than Three Hundred and Twenty. But yes indeed, it was. I know, it would be easy here to work in a joke about how it was probably fought over some silly little disagreement, but I wont go there. No man is an island. The war was finally settled by the respective diplomats sitting down to an amicable lunch. Who picked up the check?
