On this day in 1990, #Bernstein conducted his final concert, his last performance was at #Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. For the program, a Serge Koussevitzky memorial concert, Bernstein and the BSO performed Benjamin Brittens Four Sea Interludes, from his opera Peter Grimes, as well as Beethovens Seventh Symphony. Bernstein suffered from a coughing fit in the middle of the Beethoven performance, almost causing the concert to halt, but continued onward to roaring applause.
