On this day in.... 2007: 30-Man Royal Rumble Match, WWE Royal Rumble on January 28th, 2007. As WWE approached the 20th annual Royal Rumble event, Batista and John Cena were ruled out of the 30-Man Royal Rumble match due to defending their respective World Titles, while Triple H missed out due to tearing his right quadricep. So, the spotlight for this match was on two legends who had quite different experiences during previous Rumbles.... On one side, you had Triple Hs D-Generation X sidekick, Shawn Michaels. The Heartbreak Kid had been fortunate to be a 2-time Royal Rumble winner, having previously won in 1995 and 1996, the first of those wins coming from the #1 spot. Meanwhile, The Undertaker had been in 7 Rumble matches throughout his WWE career, but had always been unable to be the last man standing, whether it be a freak elimination by Maven, or outside interference from Giant Gonzalez. They werent the only ones to keep an eye on, as this match featured previous Rumble winners in Ric Flair and Chris Benoit, as well as the man holding the record for the most eliminations in 1 match, Kane. Add in former World Champions like Edge, Randy Orton and King Booker, and the list of potential winners was looking quite good!
