On this day, in the year 1990, the Emperor of Japan was enthroned - TopicsExpress

On this day, in the year 1990, the Emperor of Japan was enthroned in a traditional ceremony in Tokyo (though the traditional site of the enthronement rites were held in Kyoto). Upon the enthronement, the Emperor officially proclaimed his ascension to his ancestors and called upon all his subjects (both in and outside Japan) to help him perform his duties. The ceremony was perfectly timed and monitored in order to achieve a synchronized cheering of Banzai, around Japan and by the Japanese abroad, after His Imperial Majestys address to the people. This officially sealed the continuity of the oldest continuous hereditary monarchy which began sometime in 660 BC. Long live the Emperor! Long may He reign!
