On this warm, but overcast autumn day, exploring more of London - TopicsExpress

On this warm, but overcast autumn day, exploring more of London seemed a good idea. We rode the train to Waterloo Station, and made our way to Jubilee Park, Southbank. Many street performers, seemed like more food tents than Edmontons Heritage Days, and a fun carnival atmosphere. I hope the wording is legible on the very, very tall mast which was was donated by the B.C. Government for the Queens 25 Anniversary. Further along is the Millenium Eye, where for £21 you may que with hundreds of others for a whirl. Imagine the views would be worth it, but not for me. After walking across Waterloo Bridge, we wandered around the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. St. Margarets church, opened in 1532, beside the Abbey was hosting an art exhibit of which was nice to see, and look at the plaques commemorating deaths. Very ornate, and effusive in their wording. As we made our way towards Trafalgar Square, we got caught up in the mayhem of the police clearing an Occupy group from a nearby park in which they had set up camp. Continuing along, with tummies beginning to grumble, we found ourselves in the middle of a very large, flag-waving, chanting crowd calling for independence of Kashmir. We got stuck, and couldnt get out, so decided to just take it in. The police were shoulder to shoulder along the road, and when we could move, I asked a police officer why would it have all stopped here, and learned we were at the end of Downing Street. Time to clear out, and find food.
