Once abandoned and left to starve new OCPBR rescue, Storie, is set to debut at National Pit Bull Awareness Day, October 25th. Come out and meet the little Pit Bull that could!!! The event takes place from 9 am to 1 pm at Huntington Beachs Central Park. For more info, go here: https://facebook/events/688780344551830/ And read about sweet Storie below. In case you missed Stories incredible story the first time around, here it is again... This is the incredible story of a dog named Storie, saved from the brink of death. Severely emaciated and neglected, tied with a rope so tightly to a fence that she couldnt put all four paws on the ground, and left to die, Storie was running out of time very quickly. Then, as luck would have it, a Good Samaritan came across her and just couldnt leave the poor, small dog to suffer. Storie was on the brink of death, struggling to survive but losing and the Good Samaritan answered the call. He untied the bony, flea ridden dog, picked her up and put her in his truck. He quickly found that her breathing was labored and jumped into action. Because it was so late, he drove her immediately to a 24-hour emergency vet, worried sick about her health. The vet took care of Stories immediate needs and then turned her into the Orange County Shelter, where she was put on a stray hold. The man, who had decided he wanted to make Storie a part of his family, brought a chair to the shelter every day and sat outside her kennel, talking to and petting her, keeping her company. After her stray hold was up, the man adopted her. OCPBR was there at the shelter to help with introductions between Storie and her would-be canine sister, Chihuahua Lucy. We tested her with dogs of all sizes and she passed with flying colors! Even after everything that she had been through, Storie was sweet and friendly, appreciative of everyone around her. Everything seemed to be looking up for this deserving girl, who had already put on some weight and was looking much healthier. But fate had another twist for Storie, when Lucy decided she wasnt ready to share her home and family with another dog. Neutral ground was one thing, but her home was another. And so, Stories future was again in jeopardy. Enter OCPBR and the next hero in Stories life: a new foster mom and her daughter, who stepped in just at the right time to provide care, love, and safe haven for this small girl just when she needed it most. So now, Storie is safe. Shes part of the OCPBR family and we will make sure that she is cared for and loved until the right family comes along who will cherish her forever. Imagine if more people stepped up to the plate like the Good Samaritan and Stories new foster family. What would that world look like? We are a small, but fully dedicated rescue with limited resources, only able to take on a few dogs at a time. With the help of the community, though, we can all make a difference to dogs like Storie and the many more waiting to be rescued. Thank you to everyone who helps alleviate suffering for all dogs and their people in the community. That look in Stories eyes in her freedom photos is reason enough to reach out.
