Once again, here we go with what the Media wont tell you, what the so called experts missed completely, and the factual situation that should have taken place. Let me start by stating something that took all of 30 seconds of research: In 2008, the NCAA football rules committee determined that it would follow the NFL and remove the incidental face-mask penalty for the college game as well. This means the supposed no-call was actually an excellent call by the officials. This is why there was a no call on the face-mask on Saturday. Rule 9-1-2-q : Five-yard facemask foul eliminated. Rule 12-3-4 : Replay official may correct egregious errors No other plays or officiating decisions are reviewable. However, the replay official may correct egregious errors. This excludes fouls that are not specifically reviewable. Instead of watching it in slow-motion, which is EVERY single clip you will see online. I suggest you watch it at normal speed and youll see why it wasnt called. His hand hooked and released almost instantly, otherwise known as incidental, everyone got that? Good. Im not saying its right, I would have called incidental myself on Alabama. So dont even think this is an excuse, this is education. Im saying that if the rule for incidental face-mask was still in effect, that would have reversed the TD, with a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the foul and Ole Miss ball. I would have been perfectly ok with that and so would everyone who saw it, except Danielson who almost had an orgasm in his rant. Had Cyrus Jones taken him to the ground holding the face-mask it would have been called and I would have been good with that as well. Im not saying its the Crimson Tides way of tackling either, I am saying it was a good no call by the official who obviously knows a little bit more about football then the idiots in the media. Speaking of... if you read around the media, Ill bet you no one brings up this little rule. In fact I researched it myself: sbnation... nope foxsports... nope FoxSports At The Buzzer reporter Mike Pereira called it an Egregious Non-Call... great grandstanding you ass. Even saying that the rule book has the word Egregious in there, guess he didnt read far enough in the rule book did he, just a few sections prior actually. Bleacher Report... nope Fansided...nope AL... nope ESPN... nope Gary Danielson, calling the no-call a “catastrophic mistake by the official” you sir are an idiot, completely. I was almost ready to compliment you on your calling on Saturday too, pity. I would love for someone to explain how someone with no media credentials such as myself can find this information out yet it escapes the people labeled as experts. I suppose I just love College Football a little more than the average reporter for the major sports networks. Im good with the label of freak, at least I call it how I see it without being partial. Enjoy your afternoon and Roll Tide! ~Charlie
