Once again we see a singer who is praised by the voice teacher David Jones who does the utter opposite of what Jones claims is correct for the tongue. He does not hold the tongue forward whatsoever. Hampsons tongue is consistently retracted with the tip pulled back away from the bottom teeth. For David Jones to praise these singers as they do the opposite of what he teaches is at the very least contradictory. The fact is that Jones, as in many other things he teaches, doesnt have a firm grasp on vocal efficiency and the proper coordination of the muscular actions. That is for shame as he influences so many with pseudoscientific information. He has succeeded, at the cost of many voices, to elevate himself into a high status position in which he does not belong. I am sure he is a very nice man in many respects, but that does not make up for faulty information and utterly limiting and/or damaging of voices as a consequence.
