Once upon a time I made Maya Angelou laugh. I was working the door at Hals Bar and Grill in Venice, California. Maya had finished her meal and was outside, on the bench in front of the restaurant, waiting for her car to pick her up. Our conversation went like this: Me: I love you. Maya: Why thank you, thats very sweet. Whats your name? Me: Ted. Maya: Im Maya. Me: i know who you are... I saw you on Sesame Street yesterday. Maya: Really? Me: Yes. You were trying to sing a song but Elmo kept interrupting you... Maya: Yes... I remember. I love working with Elmo. Me: I dont know. He was kinda being an asshole. Maya Angelou Laughed Out Loud. Maya: Nooooo! Elmo is a sweetheart. (smiling) How often do you watch Sesame Street? Me: I have two small children. I watch it with them. Her car pulled up. Her driver helped her into the car. She wished me a good night and I told her she was Awesome. True Story Circa 2005 RIP Maya Angelou
