Once upon a time, spinning tunes on what was then the greatest FM - TopicsExpress

Once upon a time, spinning tunes on what was then the greatest FM Rock station on the planet, a Friday night DJ would sign off at 11:45 by airing a lengthy blues jam called Loan Me A Dime, a fairly complex arrangement by Boz Scaggs, loosely based on Fenton Robinsons short basic blues tune Somebody Loan Me A Dime. The great Duane Sky Dog Allman sat in on lead guitar, and The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, horns and all, completed the grand mix, all playing spot on to Boz Scaggs sullen, melancholic verses and pleading vocals. The tune strikes some dynamic tempo changes, but the final change is a major slip into a long climactic R&B jam, increasing in volume, intensity, and instruments, which plays to a final fade out. A perfect way to slip from evening to early morning. And for me, a great time to hit up the Night Gallery bartender one more time before the final set. One memory eludes me, though. Who was that DJ? Anyone from Saint Louis remember? Randy? Anyone? Oh, well, heres the 12.5 minute masterpiece in HQ audio. Enjoy your Friday night, friends. https://youtube/watch?v=zQndBhB3ULg
