Once upon a time there was a little doggie at the pound..... A - TopicsExpress

Once upon a time there was a little doggie at the pound..... A Rescue Mummy was collecting a new bubbie from Blacktown Holding Facility & happened to stumble across a pen with a little old dog, huddled on the concrete floor in the corner, shivering. Ill take him she said. This little doggie came home with her that very day. She loved him & nursed him. He was SO sweet. He was quirky & clumsy & very, very doddery. He would stumble around, twist & turn and fall over. But he would always pick himself up again & trot off to nowhere. The vet loved him too. He nursed & cuddled him but told the Rescue Mummy that the infections inside his mouth were so bad, he was a welfare case. What to do...... At the time, PFT didnt have that sort of funding and decided they were unable to afford surgery. The kindly vet discreetly advised that if surgery wasnt to take place, the kindest thing to do would be to give this doggie his wings so he was no longer in pain with his organs slowly shutting down due to severe dental disease. Rescue Mummy was shocked! She had no idea things were THAT bad. She didnt want to give this doggie his wings so an appointment was made for surgery to go ahead 1 week later. Surgery commenced and it was touch & go. Putting an old dog under anaesthetic was a huge commitment and responsibility. However, kindly vet & his team were extremely experienced with senior dogs and every care was taken. This little doggie had many, many, many teeth removed. In fact - Im not sure he had any left. With pain relief & antibiotics, within 1 week a totally new dog was born. No more the tottering, doddering, silly old fart he once was. Instead, he was replaced by a galloping, happy, pupply-like doggie with a silly grin permanently on his face. It was at that moment Rescue Mummy realized the power of the dental. Sadly, this little doggie, in all his glory and happiness, loved to SCREAM with enjoyment. Neighbours complained and council were called. Rescue Mummy had no alternative but to find a new, suitable home for this little doggie. In tears, she rang Foster Mummy Carol & begged her to take this little doggie into her home & heart, forever. Foster Mummy Carol was SO excited that I think the word giddy comes to mind. She drove a 20 hour round trip to collect her new doggie. After 4 months together, Rescue Mummy cried & cried & cried with her goodbyes. Doggie & Foster Mummy Carol lived on The Farm for 6 more months together where Foster Daddy Rod insisted that this doggie would only get BBQ chicken every single day, because apparently he needed it. Everyone loved each other and they all lived happily ever after. Sadly..... One day this doggies system started to shut down and with a mad rush through country roads & flooded laneways - doggie was rushed into the vet. He was old and his time had finally come. Foster Mummy Carol & Rescue Mummy bid their farewells to one of the dearest, dearest doggies ever to grace PFTs scene. Stormin Norman was given his wings 1 year ago. He will always be our favourite, most fantabulous, hilarious, clumsy, goofy and famous PFT Sanctuary Dog.
