‘One Family People’ Empowers Disabled Students By Ulaba Samura Six delegates from Hungary through ONE FAMILY PEOPLE have empowered four schools in the Western Area with computers, cameras and other learning materials. The beneficiary schools are Albert Academy, Aberdeen Junior Secondary School, Murray Town Junior Secondary School and Kelly Vocational School. The donated items are meant for disabled students in these four schools. It all happened at the Ministry of Social Welfare on July 10th, 2013. According to the head of the delegates Diana Szainto, she said that their purpose in Sierra Leone is to help disabled students have access to good education and how they should use the Internet, and other IT communication; to enable them communicate to other disabled persons all over Europe. She spoke further about discrimination which disabled persons are facing; adding that this is what they were here to break. She added that the educational partnership project is going to last for two years; in which her organization would work with teachers from the four schools they have chosen to help as all these schools have the highest number of disabled students. She said this is the first time such project is coming to Africa to help disable realized their dreams. She said they too are teachers from different schools in Hungary. Mr. Francis Mohamed Kabia, Director Social Welfare who welcomed the delegates, explained to them about the mandate of his Ministry. He said that with ONE FAMILY PEOPLE, they have achieved a lot in helping disabled persons in this country. He added that they have established a dignity market for the disabled, were all sorts of things are made and sold for use by disabled persons. He further said that education is one of their key areas in helping the disabled; adding that with the help of ONE FAMILY PEOPLE, they would forge ahead as far as the development of the disabled people are concerned.
