One Halloween, my 11 year old daughter, a budding actress, and I - TopicsExpress

One Halloween, my 11 year old daughter, a budding actress, and I were going to a Halloween party at the U of Minn, MPLS, held by grad students in my department. My daughter and I went to the NEED thrift store around the corner from where we lived and where I worked a few hours a week. She spent maybe five minutes among the crowded racks and came up with an old wool ladies coat, a straw purse with fake berries on it, and some suitable shoes. At home she put on a grey wig her grandma Betty had given her from a dress-up box she kept for the grandkids, and I took her to the party. I dont remember what I wore. I think I dressed down in sweatshirt and tights as a student at the Childrens Theater school my daughter attended. Everyone at the party seemed to be wondering why I brought a little old lady with me, she was so convincing. And I was amazed at how fast she was able to locate just the right accessories to pull off that look just by scanning the racks in that crowded store.
