One Night - July 8, 2014 Checked in @ 1515 PDT Purpose: to attend a meeting of the ASIS Job Club at the MIND Institute I was greeted warmly, with a smile and pleasant conversation, by the woman at the counter upon check-in at the front desk. I had pre-paid via Hotels and the process was quick as expected. Room 103, first floor, first door past the managers office. Walked in, room smelled fresh, window was open and drape pulled back. Has a mini-frig and microwave. The floor is hardwood, no carpet anywhere, though not cold to the touch. The ventilation system is simple to use and works very well. I set the temp to 62 before raising it to 68 for the duration. I like a cold room. The bed is clean and the four pillows are firm, yet soft. The TV is an LG and has a great sleep timer that can be set from 5 minutes to 240 minutes. All stations are viewable, though three were in Spanish. I located 10 power outlets through out the room. Two on each side of the bed, embedded in the wall within easy reach, two on the desk (one on the lamp, one on the wall), two higher up on the wall to the right of the TV, and the two near the sink. The desk lamp has two independent bulb switches. The phone is a simple design with the standard info. Beside the bed, on the left side night stand, is a digital clock/analog radio plugged into one of the two power outlets on that side. The complimentary in-room wifi is speedy, though I did not perform a speed test to get numbers. In the bathroom section, the area is well-lit and there is a simple coffee maker and hair-dryer, and a towel rack with one large towel, two hand towels, and two washcloths are on the counter. Four plastic cups and two cups with basic coffee are provided, as is a travel pack of kleenex and a trial size of Pantene Pro-V for the shower. The shower is decent. Power is not as high as it could be, but it is usable. I find that a room of this size needs a second waste basket. There is a lot of wasted space beyond the bathroom area. Room for two or three shelves, a hook or something else to be able to hang clothes, just dont leave it open without reason. I found four drawers total, two on the right of the bed, one on the left, and a deep drawer beneath the TV, to the left of the microwave. There are six hangers that are located above the double-drawers on the right of the bed. The overhead bed lights are great, but the switches could be lowered to a more convenient location, such as near the power outlets. The towels and soap have a nice aroma. One drawback, due to this room being next to the managers office, the sound of the toilet flushing can be heard rather distinctly. The ice and vending machines are located just a few steps outside the door, easy access for all rooms. Complimentary breakfast is served daily from 0600 - 0900 in the front office. Selections include make-your-own-waffles, hot and cold cereals, coffee and juice. There is a room-service menu available. The neighborhood is not the best area, near the I-80 North freeway entrance. Best to access this hotel via Stockton Blvd. from the North, traveling South. Fast food is plentiful in the area. I would recommend this hotel for any short-term visit to the area.
