One Powerful Thing Happy People Do Every Day "This afternoon Marc and I were putting quarters into a parking meter for our parking spot in downtown San Diego when a homeless man asked us if we could spare some change. I actually had a lot of coins in my purse, so I handed him about five dollars in change. The man smiled from ear to ear and thanked us repeatedly as we walked away. The coaching client meeting Marc and I attended downtown ran about an hour longer than we had anticipated, and about 30 minutes longer than we had pre-paid on the parking meter. The meter maids in San Diego are very strict, so Marc and I were expecting to see a $50 parking ticket on our car’s windshield. But when we got back to our car, the homeless man we had given change to earlier was putting a quarter into our parking meter. When he saw us, he said, “Oh great, you’re back! A little while ago the meter maid was ticketing cars with expired meters on this block, so I’ve been slowly putting some change into your meter to keep you out of trouble.” The kind regard of this homeless man, and the fact that our generosity came back around to us so quickly, really blew my mind. It was a bold reminder that we all truly are in this TOGETHER. Every one of us – young or old, strong or weak, affluent or poor – has the ability to help someone else at any given moment. And the more we help others smile, the more they will want to help us smile, because love and kindness begets love and kindness." By Marc & Angel
