One Sargsyan, two Sargsyan, three Sargsyan Having become president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan pulled his siblings into the policies. The first, Levon, is working in the diplomacy. The second, Alexander, or simply Sashik, has become one of the richest people in Armenia and the member of parliament. The older brother has always been for them as a loving father. But on the eve of parliamentary elections, President Sargsyan had to make his own choice. Namely, to withdraw the nomination of Sashik in favor of another brother, Levon. The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has two brothers, Alexander and Levon. As soon as the older brother, Serzh, has entered the Armenian political elite, he pulled the younger brothers. At various times, Sargsyans relatives were members of the National Assembly of Armenia. Subsequently, Alexander Sargsyan became on of the richest people in Armenia. The tycoon-MP owns a network of gas stations in Armenia, elite real estate in Europe and the U.S., construction companies. It all started with a gas stations. They got in his hands in 1998, after the power in Armenia got to the hands of Robert Kocharyan. I the new government Serzh Sargsyan was the defense minister, and Alexander Sargsyan has got gas stations of the country. Serzh and his brother Levon call their oligarch brother Sashik. Needless to say, the three brothers are Kocharians countrymen and his longtime associates on Nagorno-Karabakh.Before becoming a deputy and an oligarch, in his native Karabakh, Sashik was bus driver and gas technician. Money and power have turned his head. Armenian newspapers have been writing about his wild drinking bouts in the best restaurants in Yerevan almost every week. Sashik has been rarely seen at the sessions of Parliament, if seen, then with tired and hangover appearance. One of those rare days fell on October 3, 2005. Tired and frustrated, the MP tycoon came to the meeting of Parliament. In the sidelines he was immediately surrounded by representatives of the press. Typically, Sashik ended communication with the media with strong statements towards journalists. Once Alexander Azatovich has hidden from the media in the toilet. But that day he had a lot to say. At first, he complained about the Americans who did not let him into the U.S. due to improperly filled out customs declaration. When Sashik flew to the States, he carried 30 million undeclared dollars. Americans have sent me back, Sargsyan complained. But I have the money. Why I cant have the money? I have business, I own a 50 percent stake of the company MultiLion. If you do not believe me, tomorrow I can bring papers and prove. One of the journalists reminded Sashik that by law the Armenian deputies cannot do business. But this made Alexander Sargsyan angry. You know, I do not know what I should do. Moreover, Im not engaged in it. I have people who are engaged, and Im only an honorary chairman of the company. That day, Sargsyan told a lot about his foreign voyages, his overseas real estate and that he was pursued for this in Armenia. Why, when I had been in England or Germany, it didnt happen? Why is this happening now?, the oligarch wondered. In the end of the interview, he confessed to his love to Armenia, and especially to his older brother, Serzh. For me he is as a father. He does not scold me for anything, because he knows that all the hype around me is just rumors. It does not turn own blood into the water, newspaper Aravot quoted Alexander Sargsyan.
