One Step To Raising A Confident Child Stop Playing Spokesman/Superman Don’t always run to your child’s rescue. She should learn to defend and speak up for herself whether you’re there or not. Don’t be quick to answer questions directed at her. Rescuing her all the time may hinder her from developing confidence in herself. Start from your home by teaching conflict resolution such that when she has issues with siblings during play, she doesn’t always come running to mummy or daddy. Let her learn to stand up for herself. Identify other ways you’ve been overprotecting or overindulging her and start backing off gradually. Once she learns to face her fears, tolerate frustrations, solve little problems independently and stand up to her peers, she’ll be a lot more confident and you will be empowering her to face tougher realities ahead, while believing in herself all the way.
