One brief word of caution, not everyone who holds up a sign saying - TopicsExpress

One brief word of caution, not everyone who holds up a sign saying homeless vet is really a Veteran. Nevertheless, the VA Hospital can sort that out later. The Good News is any homeless Veteran may walk into any VA Hospital, receive help, and start the healing process. They can also call a toll free number from any phone. If you know of a Vet that is homeless, contact your nearest VA Hospital. There are also hundreds of shelters across the U.S. that are part of the VA’s Homeless Vet programs. No one living on the streets will last long in the elements. Bad Weather, Disease, Spider bites and criminals all prey on them. It may sound strange, but to help homeless individuals, it is not always a good idea to give them Cash. Instead, offer a Hot Carryout Meals that include a warm or cold soft drink. Usually they do welcome this. It is easy to help. Contact local Churches, VA Hospitals, Salvation Army, or other Outreach Shelters and Missions in your area that provide ‘Real Help’ for the Homeless. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless and reward all your efforts to help the poor. Jesus said, If you give a cup of water to the least of these, you shall not go unrewarded. Amen
