One day in an unseasonably warm October I had to cross the city to visit a friend on a matter of business - the particulars of which are of no concern to what I am about to tell you. I dont know whether it was the heat of the day or the lack of a decent nights sleep, but I foolishly found myself getting off at the wrong station. As the train pulled away I realised my error and cursed my lack of observation. I looked around and took note that there was not a soul to be seen, a strange occurrence in and of itself in a city of this size. I turned and was about to make my way to the oposite side of the platform when I noticed below me a kind of cul de sac, a kind of non-place the likes of which we all pass everyday, but on this particular occasion something had caught my eye... I peered through the railings and I felt the air leave my lungs in a kind of gasp, something had chilled the very marrow in my bones... A silent figure stood by the fence below, it was the size and shape of a child... and yet... all in white with some kind of cowl covering the head. It stood stock still while I gazed on and on in horror. What was this being? An apparition? A spirit? A trick of the light? I know not, but what I do know is that this figure resided on no earthly plane... I remember my shirt now clung to my back and I was covered in a cold clammy sweat. I was carrying my photographic equipment with me and my hands - almost with a life of their own - set the tripod down and focussed the shot between the railings. I was somehow hoping that there would be nothing to see upon gazing through the viewfinder, but no, there it was again! I cannot remember my actions from then on and I cannot remember the journey to my friends house - but upon arrival the dear fellow sat me down and poured me a measure of brandy - apparently I was shaking like a leaf. Of course dear reader you would seek to enquire what was on the plates upon development and all I can offer you is the following as evidence, two pictures that may mean nothing. Make of them what you will.
