One day last week I witnessed something MAGICAL. I was walking the shoreline at the bay looking at the water and taking pictures. I was about to leave and cant believe I didnt notice earlier those perpendicular lines across the sand. How strange!!! There were NO extra footprints and of course, I began a new path of stooping to take pictures of those lines so perfectly in the sand. The lines definately caught my attention. So, I began asking facebookers what it might be. I tagged those that work with wetlands and asked a patients family who worked with outdoor camping and wildlife to explain....showing pictures all the while. I also asked Pensacola Scenic Highway Foundation. One time I was told, those are manmade....Well, they certainly are not!! And, I even spiffed back saying, Mam, those certainly are NOT. Well, my friend Christi Crawford Partee, dug deep. She posted an article about beach cusps. That they are!!!- finally!!! An answer to the mystery!!! Beach cusps- when the water is high enough and your beach is sloped perfectly that the edge waves come in causing the water to drain back off in a sideways fashion causing what is called beach cusps.- and the lines are perpendicular to the beach. This assists in the way beaches are made and are rare. Enjoy my cusps!!!
