One farm’s abusive tactics shouldn’t spoil business for all farmers In this age of social media, the recent controversy surrounding Dairy Farmers of Canada caused almost as much uproar as Upton Sinclairs novel “The Jungle” when it exposed the unsanitary and inhumane conditions workers suffered in the Chicago meatpacking industry. I wasn’t going to touch it, but 140-character banter on Twitter wasn’t productive or getting any sort of message across. If you haven’t heard the recent news or seen the disturbing video (https://youtube/watch?v=HEDW78ruLTM) on the alleged animal abuse that took place at a Chilliwack farm in British Columbia, you can click the link. I didn’t watch it until recently because I’ve seen videos of similar content that brought me to tears. But to gather facts, I needed to watch it. It’s horrible, awful, disgusting and cruel. But now what?
