One final thought regarding Disney…It truly is a “magical - TopicsExpress

One final thought regarding Disney…It truly is a “magical place.” It most definitely lives up to its reputation. The admission charge is NOT cheap, but they do re-invest in their parks like no one Ive ever seen do before. The place is spotless, there are numerous restrooms spread throughout the park. The people who work there are amazingly helpful. Their goal, without question, is to “Disappoint no one.” I’d venture to say their maintenance and landscape budget alone is literally out of this world. It truly is a place where dreams can come true- for a little while, anyway. Walt Disney once said, “I don’t want the public to see the world they live in while they’re in Disney World. I want them to feel they’re in another world.” And perhaps this is the magic of the Disney parks- while there, you DO feel like you’re in another world. A world where dreams do come true, a world of nostalgia and reminders of simpler days long ago, a world of fun and frolic, not unlike Peter Pan’s Neverland. For a few hours or even a few days you can escape the reality of the real world and unashamedly be a five year old again. It’s been said that all of us have a God-shaped hole in our hearts that only He can fill. As I walked through the Magic Kingdom I wondered how many of the people there that day were hoping that Disney World might, in some way, fill up the God-shaped hole in their hearts. I gazed up at the work of a skywriter overhead…who must have been thinking along those same lines. He had already written “Jesus loves u” and was working on “God forgives you.” Of all the sensory messages people would receive that day, these were the two most important. Because truth is, no matter how much you get “lost” in the world of Disney, sooner or later you’re going to have to step back into the real world- the one you left behind. Only Jesus can fill that God-shaped hole…only Jesus can really give you what Disney attempts to give you- fulfillment and peace that lasts, not for just a few hours, but for all eternity Go to Disney if you can, but don’t forget something else Walt Disney said, “Disney World is a show.” Three things to remember about a “show”- 1- it’s entertainment, 2- it’s not real, 3- it eventually ends.
