One for the archaeologists from the NYT. Seems like, according to two different studies, non-Africans have a small amount of Neanderthal DNA, especially in the skin and hair cells. There are nine different diseases, including diabetes and lupus, that Neanderthal genes make us either more or less likely to contract. We dont have a lot of Neanderthal genes, but the few that we do have are very common among those of us with European and Asian ancestry.
