One good housekeeper can prevent more diseases than a dozen doctors can cure.Housekeeper, Environmental Service Tech, whatever name that is given This job is not taken seriously, that is the issue. Anyone can clean I hear that all the time. Well to an extent anyone can clean but in a medical setting this needs to be done with Medical Precision. Because of how others view this job called Monkey work it is treated as such by most of the people who perform it. We are not valued as front line infection control, we are not seen as important as most and we are most diffidently viewed as less intelligent. This attitude needs to change cause i can tell you that this person most of you may look down on is the person who is preventing you from contracting an infection in a medical setting and maybe there would be a drop in the numbers of people who contract infection and disease if this job was taken more seriously. This needs to start from the top because i can tell you not even the hospital you go to takes this job as serious as it should and the people who perform this job more then likely know that and so they dont. This is a skilled labor and needs to start being treated as such.
