One hundred fifty years ago, on November 11, 1863, Captain Eathan Allen Pinnell of the 8th Missouri Infantry hears news of Price’s army: November 11, 1864: The Brig. was reviewed and inspected at 10 A.M. on an old filed near Washington by Maj. O’Brian, and the Brig. acquitted itself with credit and I hope to the satisfaction of the Maj. We have reliable from Gen’l Price, he is at Cane Hill, Ark. He went as far as Westport, Mo. He brought out of Mo. from ten to fifteen thousand recruits. Brig Gen’ls Marmaduke and Cabell with from three to eight thousand captured. My Jr. 2nd Lieut., F. M. Ragan, tendered his resignation this A.M.—Day clear and cool—Rations; flour and beef.
