One hundred years ago yesterday (October 29, 1914) in Flatbush, New York, the famous magician and escape artist Harry Houdini recorded his own voice onto six Edison wax cylinders, introducing one of his most famous acts - the Water Torture Cell. The cylinders were discovered in 1970 by a friend of Houdini biographer Milbourne Christopher, among the magic collection of John Mulholland. The recording below is a combination of two versions from two of the cylinders, and is one of only two known recordings of Harry Houdini known to exist!
