One last comment about Veterans Day, or Memorial Day, or Remembrance Day, whatever you call it depending on where you live... I made a Leek and Potato soup today with some celery, vegetable and chicken stock, a bit of salt and pepper, nothing fancy, just hot hearty Fall food. It made me wonder what my dad would have given for a bowl of that soup when he was laying in a foxhole in New Guinea about 70 years ago listening to the Nips on the radio while .30 cal MG casings bounced off his steel helmet and his ears thundered with the report. That was before he got the dysentery. He spent nearly his entire working life in selfless and almost thankless service to this country. Thanks, Dad, and Rest in Peace.
