One last thing before I sign off. I am convinced that I have never heard the Gospel adequately preached, nor have I fully preached the message of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Too much of our preaching is about fluff. We have those who attempt to live by Jewish law; foolishly thinking they can honor Christ in a blend of man made and God commands. Those who watch the skies and manipulate news stories to fit their own interpretation of prophecy. Those who numb the masses with a palatable and false gospel of hyper-grace. Those who think a video screen and theatrical lights glorify God. Those who deny the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of tongues and thereby deny Jesus as He is the Holy Spirit sent into the Earth. Those who argue about baptisms and sanctification. Putting semantics above truth. But very few of us present the depravity of man, the peerlessness of Christ and the command of holiness empowered by the supernatural grace of God; all grounded upon the blood that was shed 2,000 years ago. We need to make more of Jesus and less of buildings, ministry aspirations, big events, plays and lights. The early church accomplished more with no lights, no sound equipment, no large buildings, no programs, no plays, no fancy worship toys than we can with a myriad of fancy toys and state of the art houses of worship. The Gospel is not self help. It is the power of God that empowers a life. Surely Jesus hasnt changed. We have.
