One late night in 2004, I saw a commercial on TV - the children in Africa getting simple gifts for Christmas, dolls for the girls, a toy for the boys. The song Smile of a Child was playing in the background. That night etched a desire in my heart to want to help. I wanted to go to Africa after that but it wasnt the right time with my children being so young and I, a single Mom. Ever since then, for years to come every December I would do a toy drive for kids - the very first one I simply was collecting toy donations from my coworkers and donated them to Olive Crest Orphanage in Riverside, Ca. The next year I met Devo, (CalledandChosen) songwriter/singer of Smile of a Child and the next two toy drives went to his organization that helps underprivileged kids in the Inland Empire. And the rest of the years were Zumba Toy Drives and other Zumba FUNdraisers. And now, here I am in the airport to board the plane to Zambia, Africa (my first mission trip). This has been 10 years in the making - back then God said not yet, now that both my children are grown both away in the military, and a series of God stories, including finding Valley Bible Fellowship, He opened doors and hearts so I can go. Thank you ALL for making it possible for me to go and be used for Gods glory! Im looking forward to this journey. Please keep me and the team covered in your prayers.
