One man was hospitalised and another charged following an argument over a takeaway gozleme in Auburn yesterday (Sunday 3 August 2014). The incident occurred about 5.20pm in a park on Wellington Road, where a large crowd had gathered for a cultural festival. Police have been told a 41-year-old man purchased a gozleme at a food stall, but returned it a short time later, unhappy with the small amount of cheese on it. When the 21-year-old stall owner tried to refund the man, the pair reportedly began to argue. It’s alleged the 21-year-old punched the older man in the head, causing a cut to his left ear. An ambulance conveyed the 41-year-old to Auburn Hospital, where he received five stitches to the wound. Police arrested the 21-year-old man and took him to Auburn Police Station. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm by unlawful act. The man was granted conditional bail to appear in Burwood Local Court on 26 August 2014.
