One might argue that video games saved the world, since the need for increased processing power for better games led to faster computers that could design faster processors, which could design even faster ones, which led to the complete mainstreaming of video games across all groups, which led to a faster mainstreaming of computers, which led to the fast-tracking of high-speed internet to keep up with demand, which led to this. *And* the ability to find and buy or download in about 30 seconds that Mothers of Invention album I used to spend moths full of weekends looking for.
