One more post on the faulty facebook preterist teaching of the already but not yet. This is the teaching where facebook preterists try and tell you that the Cross of Christ had no power UNTIL their version of end-time events occurred. Today I want you to consider the original Passover, that event in Egypt where the Israelites took the blood of a lamb and put it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the house wherein they would eat the lamb. On that same night the Lord did pass through the land of Egypt and smite all the firstborn, but when He saw the blood of the lamb around and over the door of a house, He did pass over those in that house, and they were spared from death, entering into a new life through that blood which brought forth their exodus. (you can see all this in Exodus chapter 12) From this story, which is the shadow or type of the Cross, I ask you to notice the immediate power of that Passover blood. Did that blood work that very night, saving them from death and bringing them into a new life? Or was there some sort of already but not yet involved where the blood was rendered impotent until some further, later, event? Obviously we can all plainly see that the blood was powerful, saving those under it from death that very night. Raising them that very night to a new life through the exodus from Egyptian slavery then and there. That night the Egyptians called forth Moses and Aaron and freed their people. In other words, the efficacy of the blood was immediate. So why do facebook preterists seek to take the antitype of the event, the fulfillment of the Passover bound up in the blood of Christ the Lamb of God on the Cross, and change the story by forcing their own mistaken ideas upon it. Facebook preterists claim to know all about type and antitype, shadow and fulfillment; so why this big disconnect on Passover, such a foundational teaching of our faith? Rather than trying to be cute and invent new things, I think it better to understand our faith as once and for all delivered to the saints. Rather than trying to force ones own mistaken ideas upon such a simple type / antitype in the Bible as the original Passover and the Cross, I think it better to simply accept the plain teaching of Scripture. The whole notion of already but not yet as propagated by facebook preterists is faulty to the core. Well only ever understand our faith if we look to Christ and Him crucified. Anything that seeks to diminish for us our understanding of the power of the Cross, is something of which we must be more than wary. In simplest biblical terms, just as in the type the original Passover blood worked that very night to save believers from death and bring them into communion with God, so too the antitype, the blood of Christ staining that old wooden Cross, worked that very night to save believers from death and bring them into immediate communion with the Lord.
