One more thing regarding the death of Josh/Leelah. As I prepare - TopicsExpress

One more thing regarding the death of Josh/Leelah. As I prepare to start the second half of my 27th year in teaching, I unfortunately have experienced more than my share of deaths of students. This school year alone, Kings has had 4 deaths of current and former students. Youd think one would get used to it, but you dont. Theres the sorrow, the guilt, the missed opportunities, the heartache, the sleepless nights, the quiet awkwardness in the classroom. Any teacher with at least one year of experience knows how difficult it is to put on that game face and continue on with the job that we have been entrusted to do when a student becomes gravely ill or passes away. My school, as do other schools in the area, does a great job helping those students who need a shoulder to cry on or a sympathetic ear to talk to. Many teachers, ESPs, administrators, do not have these options, unless youre are already in therapy. To my colleagues, hang in there; your wound will heal though a scar may remain.
