One of America’s most famous poets, Maya Angelou, passed away last night while recovering from an undisclosed illness in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Angelou passed away with her family surrounding her. Maya Angelou is known for her famous book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and many universities around the world have blessed her with over 30 honorary degrees. Angelou was also known by two of her favorite quotes, Ive learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel as well as The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.” Maya Angelou may be gone but her words, wisdom and writings will live on forever. She was 86. Memorial arrangements for Angelou have not yet been released. Please keep her family in your prayers.
