One of many lessons I learned in Cebu. American Christians are ashamed of Jesus. Filipinos arent. Filipino born again Christians walk the streets every day, looking for an opportunity to tell someone about Jesus, go out of their way to share Jesus with words and actions. During basketball games, luncheons, dinners, time in the mall, in dump sites, on the corner, in a pharmacy, everywhere. American Christians use the old adage, Some are called to that. Im not. Filipino born again Christians couldnt care less about specific callings. They care about purpose. Our purpose is to share Jesus. His message, love, name and power. They preach the saving message of the gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere. They see the world for what it is. Theyre surrounded by suffering they cant and wont ignore. American have a tendency to deny or ignore. Filipinos and Filipinas do not have these American tendencies. They love Jesus and want the entire world to know Him, and, as I discovered, because they love Jesus and share His message, whether it be the message of forgiveness or judgement, with such love and honesty, people dont get easily offended. Some do, but they shake the dust off and move on. Isnt that what Jesus told us to do? He didnt tell us to look for specifics. He told us to go. If were rejected, shake it off and keep going. Define Adage: a traditional saying expressing a common experience or observation. Isnt it time American Christians change their adage? Dont use an excuse today. Love someone in the name of Jesus. Go into someones home, walk down someones street, talk with someone, notice someone, give someone the gospel of Jesus, not the gospel of yourself, meet someones need in the name of Jesus, dont be ashamed, theyre need isnt ashamed, its obvious, give all of Jesus and all of yourself to Jesus and someone in need today. Preach the word. Dont be ashamed. Follow Him. Follow Jesus into the world. ....into.... Dont look for specifics. Look for need. When you find it, whether in a friends life or a complete strangers, give someone Jesus.
