One of my all-time favorite songs here, sung by one of my all-time top idols - the original bad girl of rock & roll - the one and only RONNIE SPECTOR - who turns 71 today. Sheer pop perfection: this is one of those rare masterpieces so exquisite, it was recorded in just ONE take - and it was and remains, pure magic. Amazingly, this incredible song only reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 - fifty years ago, in 1964 - but interestingly, it was also the only song for which Phil Spector ever won a Grammy. Brilliant producer of so many pop classics, but a monstrous human being. I absolutely adore Ronnie though, and we are very fortunate she survived and is still with us all these years later to celebrate her 71st, after what Phil put her through. Btw.. if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend her autobio, Be My Baby - one of the most gut-wrenchingly fascinating music bios I have ever read. Happy Happy Birthday, Ronnie - youre still fabulous, after all these years!!!
