One of my favorite songs. When I was a kid in Elementary School, my Dad used to harass my Mom about her weight without cease. It gave me a complex about weight for years. Its particularly embarrassing as a male to admit that I had an eating disorder, but I went from 230lb lineman in football to 150lb tight end in football btwn 11th and 12th grade, years after Elementary School. But as a young impressionable child in Elementary School, it made me embarrassed, and it stuck with me in some strange way. And so I would, like the other kids, need distance from my Mom at any school/family function, but perhaps for different reasons than they. I dont feel guilt for not knowing any better - I feel resentment for the ideas he instilled in my head. I was young and impressionable. The point being... dealing with embarrassment. My coat was worth more than ALL their clothes.
