One of my fondest military memories was being in the middle of Iraq with Cobra Troop 2-1 CAV, in a house we had turned into a patrol base. We were all tired and cold due to the temperature dropping that evening. Inside the house there was a working tv with a satellite dish and a pile of Iraqi blankets with one kerosene heater in the center of the living room. We on the TV and One of the few channels we could get in English was playing Forrest Gump. We all sat and watched it under the blankets with the heater going and took a break from the war together. For 2 and a half hours or so, it was quiet and I felt relaxed. I will always think of that night, and my brothers in arms, when I see this movie for the rest of my life. Happy Memorial Day!
