One of my former students, Sean Worley challenged me to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and today I gladly accept! I used water from the Tolt River, with ice from my freezer to minimize any ecological impact and I now challenge Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, who sit on committees that control funding for scientific and medical research. However, since committee members can only do so much I nominate Senator Tom Harkin, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; Senator Jay Rockefeller, Chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation; Representative Lamar Smith, Chair of the House Committee on Science Space and Technology; and Representative Hal Rogers, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee.
