One of my professors ended with this statement that nobody answered, saying People didnt at first value Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stance on keeping it peaceful during the Civil Rights movement, until Malcolm X came along to the scene and preached an eye for an eye. I dont believe baseball would have honored Jackie Robinson, had he threw a punch but thank God he didnt because who knows how long it wouldve taken blacks to truly integrate baseball. Now, Im going to play devils advocate and this is my main point that I want yall to think about. Here in the United States of America, Jewish Americans will never let people forget about the Holocaust and people dont get upset when they talk about it. Which is fine with me. But yet, people get tired and frustrated when they hear Black Americans talk about slavery and racism back during the Civil Rights Movement or even right now here in 2014. Why cant Black Americans be given that same platform to be able to express their feelings about what happened to their race, just like the Jews can? I dont know why but I felt eyes on me because I usually will say something against the norm but I truly didnt have any answer this time around.
